We are pleased and delighted to share with you that we will have a 40 minute Q & A at the end of the presentation, with an illustrious panel of contributors to the December quarterly:  Catherine Ann Lombard, Jean A. Rhea, Erik W. House, Cliff Ishigaki, and Theo Dijkman. Please, have your questions ready for the panellists. We look forward to seeing  you.

It has taken 3000 millennia for the selective stitching together—with more warp than weft—the fabric of human sexuality. The warps include male domination and tacitly assumed superiority and entitlement, and the oppression, persecution, slavery, shaming, and disregard of women. And not only women, writing about patriarchy in the September Quarterly, Erik W. House quotes, “Men who feel, who love, often hide their emotional awareness from other men for fear of being attacked and shamed.”

Yet, as the woven material emerges from the loom, it is the weft that holds it together—the qualities that patriarchy strives to shred, to repress—the reception, expression, and communication of our emotions and passions; our sense of self, our relationships with others, our empathy with others, our compassion for others, our sense of morality; our insight, intuition, and creativity, everything, in fact, that marks the human spirit.

As every psychosynthesis practitioner reading this knows, this is not just some general comment about human society, but the everyday reality of men and women who bring their sexual anxieties, complexities, and relationships into our consulting rooms.

What is sexuality? At times it means the height of rapture. At other times the depth of despair. Its energy drives the yearning to procreate—or to pass something on to those who follow—the will to bear our children despite the dangers and agonies of childbirth, the will to sustain our children through the trials of childrearing.

For my part, it seems like the more I reflect, work, read, and discuss around human sexuality, the less I understand. Hence, my chosen theme, an invitation to deepen and broaden collectively our understanding of sexuality and sexual issues, being willing to accept a shift in our own preconceptions, by sharing our reflections and insights. We anticipate that our invitation to submit articles to the December Quarterly—be bold, be brave, be radical—will reveal some astonishing insights, as well as being the start of an enduring dialogue about this most crucial of subjects.

We invite you to participate in the furtherance of this dialogue by attending the Psychosynthesis and Sexuality Webinar. My intention as guest editor is to offer a digest of members’ reflections and insights, leading on to a dialogue both in breakout rooms, reports back, and open forum.

In time, our enduring dialogue may lead to the formulation of a coherent
bio-synthetic appreciation of the complex subject of sexuality.

Target Audience:Psychosynthesis practitioners who seek a deeper appreciation of what bio-psychosynthesis can contribute to our collective understanding of the critical subject of human sexuality, and are willing to participate in a dialogue to help formulate a bio-synthetic appreciation of sexuality.

Please, sign up now.

Attendees will:

  • Receive an integrated account and digest of the articles in the December Quarterly about the application of bio-psychosynthesis concepts to the complex subject of sexuality.
  • Dialogue with a group of other participants, in breakout rooms, to add their own thoughts and insights to those presented in the December Quarterly and the digest of its articles.
  • Engage with other groups in the presentation of their group dialogue in open forum.
  • Participate in dialogue in open forum to help us move, in time, towards the formulation of a bio-synthetic appreciation of sexuality.
